On this episode of the Men’s Therapy Podcast, host Marc Azoulay sits down with Geoff Laughton and Mark Johnson. They are the co-founders of The Undaunted Man. It is an organization devoted to helping men reclaim purpose, authenticity, and strength.
Their journey into men’s work is deeply personal. For Geoff, it begins as a father seeking connection. “When my son turned fourteen, a friend offered to lead him through a manhood initiation based on King, Warrior, Magician, Lover,” he shares. “It was such an amazing day. His grandfather was there, as were older men, and I realised I had never experienced anything like that. I wanted that too.” That experience propels Geoff into men’s work and eventually to co-founding The Undaunted Man.
Mark Johnson’s story unfolds through pain and surrender. “Losing my job was the straw that broke the camel’s back,” he recalls. “I curled up on the floor and said, ‘I give up. I’ve done everything I know how to do.’ That moment of surrender opened the door to real spiritual growth.” Mark’s crisis becomes a catalyst for deep transformation, leading him toward teaching men to find their inner compass, a theme central to his work today.
Together, Geoff and Mark are redefining what it means to be a modern man. It is one rooted in healthy masculinity, spiritual balance, and emotional strength.
Many men begin their journey to personal growth in crisis. For Mark, surrender is not weakness; it’s clarity. “The problem with being a reasonably smart, strong guy,” he explains, “is you think you can figure it all out. But sometimes, surrender is the only way forward.”
Geoff adds, “That’s why we create spaces where men can drop the mask. In our retreats and groups, men cry, laugh, and get real. That’s where true strength begins, when you stop pretending and start listening.”
Their retreats, like The Silent Summit, encourage men to disconnect from noise and reconnect with intuition. “It’s about learning to listen to your body and your spirit,” Geoff says. “Your spirit never steers you wrong.”
At The Undaunted Man, the concept of the inner compass sits at the heart of their work. “We help men find their internal guidance system,” says Mark. “It’s not about becoming Andrew Tate or the ‘nice guy.’ It’s about discerning your own truth.”
Both founders emphasize the need to balance masculine energy and feminine energy. “We all have both,” Mark explains. “Masculine energy is doing and building; feminine energy is nurturing and creating. Healthy masculinity means knowing which one to access at the right time.”
Geoff adds, “We encourage men to reconnect to that still, small voice inside, their intuition, their spirit. When you lead from your inner compass, you live from strength instead of confusion.”
While The Undaunted Man is spiritually grounded, it’s not religious. “We’re path-agnostic,” Mark clarifies. “Our groups include Christians, Buddhists, and atheists. It doesn’t matter. What unites us is the pursuit of truth and self-awareness.”
He describes spirituality as a skill that can be developed: “We teach men to discern between the voice of the ego and the voice of intuition. When you follow your inner knowing, anxiety decreases, confidence rises, and you start making decisions from a place of alignment.”
Geoff adds, “For me, spirituality means reconnecting to something bigger than myself. It’s not about religion. It’s about remembering that divine spark within you.” This form of spiritual growth becomes an anchor for modern men navigating uncertainty and self-doubt.
At its core, The Undaunted Man is about brotherhood. It is a space where men hold each other accountable while celebrating one another’s wins. “Our meetings are sacred,” says Geoff. “We keep them small. Eight to ten men max, so everyone can share. Between meetings, we use a video app to stay connected. That engagement builds trust, friendship, and real community.”
Mark notes that this structure fosters character development: “Good character isn’t built in isolation. It’s built through reflection, accountability, and brotherhood.” This sense of community is the antidote to loneliness, one of the modern man’s most pressing struggles. In these circles, vulnerability and strength coexist.
When asked what defines a modern man, Mark answers simply: “Character. That’s masculine strength. It’s not about muscles or bravado, it’s about integrity.”
Geoff agrees, adding, “A strong man has character. You don’t get character without bumping up against your own integrity. Authenticity is the key. Being real with yourself, owning your mistakes, and walking your talk. That’s true strength.” Their philosophy redefines manhood for the modern age, not as dominance or submission, but as authentic self-mastery.
In a world where men face conflicting messages about identity, strength, and purpose, Geoff Laughton and Mark Johnson offer a grounded path forward. Through spiritual growth, emotional intelligence, and authentic brotherhood, they guide men toward developing their inner compass. The quiet knowing that leads to confidence, peace, and personal growth. Their message is clear: the modern man does not conquer others, but one who conquers himself.
